The Detroit International Wine Auction is one of the longest-running wine auctions in the country. With proceeds benefitting scholarship and community outreach programs at the College for Creative Studies, the night is one not to be missed. Drawing from the lush visual vocabulary of the wine industry for the typography, color palette, and geometric grapevine pattern, this event identity captures the warmth and elegance of the annual event, preparing guests’ palates for the delicious vino.

After a decade away, the world-renowned Paris Opéra Ballet launched its North American Tour, at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, in Chicago. This multi-phase campaign was created to build excitement for the arrival of the French. The country’s iconic red, white, and blue unified all three phases of the campaign with modern sans serif typography set on an angle. French exclamations pique interest. Overlapping dancer silhouettes capture the movement and beauty. And, lastly, dramatically-colored ballet slippers celebrate the gorgeous rhythm of a not-to-be-missed performance.

The University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center is working to end cancer at home and around the world. Inspired by this central mission, the annual report Cancer Care and Discovery: Near and Far shares their year’s progress and highlights with the larger medical community and donor base. Contrasting visuals of pixelated color blocks and crisp photography throughout the report, along with the smart use of a transparent cover stock, embody the theme’s duality. The local, regional, global, and center sections are populated with a mix of infographics, feature articles, donor spotlights, and patient stories, that underscore the Comprehensive Cancer Center and their important work.

Victory Ranch & Conservancy, a Sterling Bay Companies property, is a private community set on 6,700 stunning acres, near Park City, Utah. The brand identity for the property needed to capture its innate rustic luxury, nodding to both the development’s rugged setting as well as the world-class amenities available on-site. An earthy yet elegant color palette, a contemporary mixture of sans serif and serif typography, luxe materials, and vibrant scenic imagery evoke the spirit of the land, while select quotes from noted authors speak to the human spirit’s need to be close to nature.

Axio is solving cyber risk. As an industry leader, the Axio brand needed to be global and scalable. The logotype is rooted in traditional forms, with modern finishes that allude to Axio being the missing piece in their clients’ cyber puzzle. The square, or pixel, is a repeating brand element that represents technology, data, and activity around the world. This methodical geometry, paired with dynamic industry-specific and cityscape photography, along with approachable messaging set a powerful and credible tone.

Threads of Vision: Towards a New Feminine Poetics, the gallery book for the exhibit of the same name, features the artwork of five celebrated female artists from around the world. As their artwork explores common themes of politics, feminism, religion, and culture, a graphic “thread” weaves its way through the book, nodding to the shared metaphorical and literal threads within the pieces. Inspired by the stitching within many of the pieces, the typography alludes to traditional sewing patterns. And a mix of detail and complete images highlight the richness and depth of each body of work, while artist interviews reveal their varied backgrounds and overlapping experiences.

After consecutive years of financial strength and strong performances, the American Agricultural Insurance Company (AAIC) wanted an annual report format that spoke to their position as a thought-leader in the industry. This newspaper format highlights their dedication to forward-thinking solutions and current market trends. Feature stories, technological advances, team member insights, and financial charts tell the year’s story. The green color palette and agricultural imagery serve as subtle nods to AAIC’s roots, while team portraiture and insights capture the passion and dedication behind AAIC’s success.

The Microsoft Technology Centers (MTCs) are collaborative environments that help their clients craft a truly tailored technology solution for their businesses’ needs. As an internal division within Microsoft, the MTC brand needed to both align to the overarching parent brand as well as create an identifying look for the group's materials worldwide. Through the use of a bold, targeted color palette, city imagery, and original center photography, the materials for the 40+ locations are identifiable and cohesive, while also staying true to Microsoft’s simple and clean look.

Just Like Me (JLM) is a biannual magazine, published by Baxalta healthcare, for people with primary immunodeficiency (PI), their families, and the community. Approachable and easy to understand, the magazine arms those affected by the disease with the knowledge and support necessary to take charge of their journey. Given the broad age range of the subscribers, the publication is broken into two parts for the adult and child audiences, with JLM Junior bound into JLM. Large full-color photography, custom illustrations, a bright color palette, and modern typography create an approachable, credible and engaging magazine. Sections include About PI, Tips, Community, Insurance, Features, Comics, and Activities.

The Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) Conference brings together librarians from around the world to collaborate with leaders of their profession. The ACRL 2017 theme, At the Helm: Leading Transformation, is brought to life through a nautical color palette, geometric abstract “sails,” full-color conference and scenic photography, and custom maritime iconography, all set against the backdrop of the Baltimore harbor. And for those in the know, the nautical flags spelling “ACRL” further nod to the theme and appear as subtle sign-offs on all pieces, including enamel pins for attendees to wear on their popped collars.

Wintry fauna and flora, brilliant and bright stars, and gilded poinsettia petals capture the spirit of the season in this series of three annual holiday cards for Metro Detroit-based publisher HOUR Media. Working within a two-color palette, shimmering metallics pair with seasonal hues to complement the elegant linework of the illustrations. Custom-made A7 envelopes with a hidden interior glue panel complete the design as well as offer a cost-efficient postage option for the joyful tidings.
